Automatyzacja procesów technologicznych w zakresie sterowania armaturą przemysłową opiera się na dopasowaniu napędu elektrycznego do zaworu nie tylko pod kątem mechanicznym ale też określeniu rodzaju pracy czy będzie odcinająca czy regulacyjna, dopasowaniu czasu/prędkości przesterowania, ale także co ważne w określeniu położenia w jakim ma znaleźć się armatura w przypadku zaniku zasilania napędu. Standardowo napęd przy zaniku zasilania pozostanie w aktualnej pozycji i zmiana tej pozycji jest możliwa wyłącznie przy pomocy kółka ręcznego w które wyposażony jest napęd.
