New AUMA app facilitates actuator commissioning and diagnostics

AUMA has launched a new app that allows fast and easy configuration and diagnostics of AUMA actuators using an Android smartphone or tablet. The AUMA Assistant App uses Bluetooth wireless communication to transfer parameter settings to the actuator and read back diagnostic data, saving considerable time and cost during commissioning and maintenance.

All the actuator’s operating parameters can be set via the app. Parameter settings can also be prepared offline and transmitted to the actuator on site at a later point in time. In addition, parameter settings can be copied from one actuator to another.

The app features a snapshot function to read out diagnostic data stored in the actuator, including actuator status, warnings and error messages. Operators can also send parameter settings and diagnostic data directly from the app to AUMA’s Service department, thus facilitating maintenance and troubleshooting.

“Following the success of our popular AUMA Support App that provides direct access to our device documentation at any time and any place, we have reached a new milestone with the AUMA Assistant App, with enhanced networking and smooth data exchange”, explains Jürgen Becher, Product Manager at AUMA. “At AUMA, the Internet of Things is more than a just a buzzword. As an actuator manufacturer we continuously strive to enhance intelligent communication solutions, in order to increase both process efficiency and plant performance.”

Using the app is very intuitive, thanks to clearly structured menus and comprehensive online help. Password-protected user levels provide effective protection against unauthorised parameter modifications.

The app also works with actuators installed in hazardous environments. AUMA offers explosion-proof tablets and smartphones with the app pre-installed and ready to use.

The AUMA Assistant App is available free of charge on the Google Play Store. It works with all AUMA actuators equipped with AC, ACExC or ACV actuator controls.
