High precision AUMA actuators support Australian pipeline project

Sophisticated electric actuation technology and comprehensive valve control functionality supported selection of AUMhttps://www.auma.com/typo3/clear.gifA devices for the 120 km Woleebee Creek to Glebe Weir water pipeline in Queensland, Australia owned by Sun Water.

The pipeline is designed to transport up to 36,500 megalitres of treated coal seam gas (CSG) water per yearffor use by industrial and irrigation customers. The pipeline, which was commissioned in 2014, is anticipated to be in full commercial operation in Q1 2015.

AUMA SAR actuators with intelligent AC actuator controls and GS part turn gearboxes were selected for both the Woleebee Creek pumping station and Glebe Weir structure. The actuators are installed as control devices on VAG plunger valves.

Experts from Barron GJM, AUMA’s Australian subsidiary, worked on site to manage the commissioning process. Barron cooperated closely with the scheme’s system integrators to ensure seamless communication with the DCS via Modbus interfaces.

Key features that influenced the adoption of AUMA actuators included their enhanced accuracy for modulating duty. Integral positioners and PID controllers combined with advanced software facilities, which provided accurate setpoint control, were additional elements of the actuation solution that were considered essential for the scheme’s requirements.
