AUMA invites visitors at this year’s IFAT to explore water and wastewater applications using virtual reality. Three large-scale touch screens on the company’s newly designed exhibition stand give access to a virtual world including water and wastewater treatment, seawater desalination, and water distribution, showcasing the broad range of AUMA’s valve automation solutions. Hotspots at central places provide additional detailed information.
“Virtual reality is the perfect medium for us to highlight AUMA’s increasingly application-oriented approach,” says Chief Sales Officer Ferdinand Dirnhofer. “Visitors to our IFAT stand come from all sectors of the water industry: Urban drainage systems, sewage treatment, drinking water treatment, water distribution, flood protection and many more. Our virtual reality plants – which are all based on existing plants, by the way – we wanted to bring our customers’ automation tasks to our trade fair stand, analysing the specific valve automation requirements of each application and showing our optimum electric actuation solutions.”
In addition to this virtual world, AUMA is also showcasing its broad actuator portfolio on the stand. Innovations include a new range of variable-speed actuators which can change their output speed during operation. Reducing the speed towards the end of the travel, for example, avoids pressure peaks in pipelines and protects the mechanical integrity of valves and sluice gates. Versions for modulating duty offer excellent positioning accuracy for control valves.
AUMA’s unique underwater actuator can be seen in a glass tank on the AUMA stand. Featuring innovative sealing, non-intrusive parameterisation and separately mounted controls, these actuators are suited for continuous underwater use. They are ideal for pit installation below ground level, for example in monsoon regions or in areas with a high risk of flooding. A new explosion-proof version is available for sewers and sewage pits, where fermentation gases generate a risk of potentially explosive atmospheres.
Water 4.0 is more than just a buzz word at AUMA. Electric actuators equipped with powerful integral controls play a key role in intelligent field device networks, providing comprehensive data-logging and advanced self-diagnostics. Latest developments such as the AUMA Assistant App and the AUMA Cloud provide a platform allowing users to easily access both actuator-related and process-related data. Using this data for visualisation and detailed diagnostics gives customers added value in predictive maintenance and asset management.
Hands-on workshops with AUMA service engineers allow visitors to gain practical experience with AUMA actuators and controls on the stand, covering, for example, configuration, setup and installation of accessories.
