AUMA increases its presence in Mexico

AUMA has expanded its global sales and service network by recently opening a new subsidiary in Mexico City. Strategically located in Mexico’s booming capital, the new office will enable the electric actuator manufacturer to strengthen its position in Latin America. Jorge Guerra, Director AUMA México Andina y Centroamérica, reports: “The new office confirms AUMA’s commitment to provide our customers with local service and support in this commercially very active region. Mexico City is an ideal hub for our activities as many of our important customers have their offices here.”

After Brazil, Mexico is the second-largest economy in Latin America. According to AUMA, this economic region has enormous potential for the actuator manufacturer, from drinking water and sewage treatment through to power generation, mining, and the oil and gas industry. Recent successes include the new Valle de México II combined cycle power plant. The new 615 MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) block has been equipped with latest AUMA valve actuation technology. The operator Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE)adopted AUMA actuators for the plant’s first power block more than 15 years ago and has been happy with the performance and the reliability of the actuators ever since.

For the new block, local AUMA staff mounted and commissioned 136 AUMA SA multi-turn actuators with AC actuator controls and gearboxes. The actuators were successfully integrated with the DCS in a Foundation Fieldbus environment using customised electrical connectors. Explosion-proof actuators were installed in the vicinity of the gas turbine.
