AUMA actuator advances at IFAT

AUMA is showcasing the latest advances in electric actuation for the water industry at this year’s IFAT.

A new range of variable-speed actuators can change their output speed during operation. Reducing the speed towards the end of the travel, for example, avoids pressure peaks in pipelines and protects the mechanical integrity of valves and sluice gates. Versions for modulating duty offer excellent positioning accuracy for control valves.

Entirely watertight are the new underwater actuators that can be seen in a glass tank on the AUMA stand. Featuring innovative sealing, non-intrusive parameterisation and separately mounted controls, they are suited for continuous underwater use.

In applications with significant hazard potential, AUMA’s new FQM fail-safe unit provides a reliable and purely mechanical way to open and close valves automatically in an emergency, even without electricity. A patented spring motor delivers a nearly-constant torque throughout the entire valve travel.

New PROFINET and Modbus TCP/IP interfaces open up the world of Industrial Ethernet to AUMA’s electric actuators, combining the familiarity of Ethernet with the reliability of fieldbus protocols.

AUMA Cloud and AUMA Support App are the company’s approach to the Internet of Things (IoT), allowing users to collect and share in-depth information on all the actuators in their plants.

Also on the stand are compact EQ part-turn actuators and actuators from AUMA Group brands DREHMO and SIPOS.

Hands-on workshops in a dedicated area of the stand will allow visitors to gain practical experience with AUMA actuators and controls, covering, for example, operation, setting parameters, installing accessories, and using the new portable leakage tester.

Producing over 180,000 actuators a year, AUMA has over 50 years’ experience in electric valve control solutions for water, wastewater, seawater desalination and hydropower installations worldwide. Significant R&D investment keeps the company at the leading edge of actuation technology.
