AUMA hosts SIL conference by Krohne Academy

AUMA hosted a two-day conference on functional safety at its headquarters in Muellheim, Germany, at the end of November 2023. The conference on “Practical implementation of functional safety (SIL) according to EN 61508 and EN 61511”, was part of the Krohne Academy programme on SIL.

Approximately 40 participants from the process, chemical and oil and gas industries met at AUMA and spent two days intensively discussing various topics relating to functional safety. The programme included a broad mix of presentations and workshops, all with a high degree of practical relevance and with a focus on actuators and valves. Thanks to breaks and a get-together in the evening, there was also plenty of opportunity for mutual exchange.

Dr. Jörg Isenberg, product specialist for functional safety at AUMA, gave two presentations at the event himself. “The participants gave very positive feedback on the conference,” he said. “The high number of participants shows that functional safety is still highly relevant to consultants and plant operators. It is generally accepted that to effectively reduce process risks in a plant you have to invest some time and build up knowledge. With our events, we try to provide the best possible practice-oriented support for doing that.”

In the context of Krohne Academy AUMA has cooperated on the topic of functional safety with Krohne Messtechnik, a German process instrumentation manufacturer, and other partner companies since 2017.

As one of the world leaders in electric actuation AUMA offers a broad product portfolio of SIL-capable electric actuators that are certified for safety-related applications up to SIL 3.
