Aumastraße inaugurated

The Aumastraße was inaugurated in the presence of the company founders, the managing directors, the mayor of Muellheim and representatives of the neighbouring companies.
By naming the street "Aumastraße", the promise made by the former mayor was kept and AUMA's success was especially appreciated.

Valve automation via fieldbus with redundancy across long distances

AUMA has developed an integral solution to automate valves using electric actuators with loop redundancy. If the fieldbus is interrupted at one position, the data exchange between all actuators and the master can still be maintained. By applying this concept, redundancy is achieved without installing a second fieldbus cable.
Furthermore, to cover large distances, the system structure uses conventional copper fieldbus cables. In theory, 127 actuators can be installed at a distance of 1,200 m, respectively. This results in a loop circumference of 153.6 km.
In addition, the actuators feature a repeater functionality enhancing the fieldbus signal in every actuator. The data transfer is realised on the basis of the open Modbus RTU protocol. The AUMA Master Station SIMA is designated as fieldbus master, which already contains the administration of the loop redundancy.

Has AUMA expanded their product range? Definitely not, but the well- known German Teddy gums manufacturer had been looking for a suitable location for their new commerical and found it at AUMA in Cologne.
The aesthetic building of Service-Center Cologne is now used as the setting for the latest commercial.

Between 8 May and 19 May 2006, our quality management system (in accordance with ISO 9000:2000) and our environmental management system (in accordance with ISO 14001:2004) were subject to repeat audits. Within the framework of the matrix qualification, the management service of TÜV Süd audited the locations Muellheim (WM), Ostfildern (WOF) and Eching (SCB).

AUMA, a global leader in electric actuation solutions, will return to ACHEMA 2006. Located in Hall 8.0 alongside valve manufacturers to enable visitors to get the wider industry picture, AUMA views ACHEMA as the most significant event on its corporate exhibition calendar.
AUMATIC is centre stage
The AUMATIC modular integral actuator control system introduced four years ago remains a flagship AUMA solution and will take centre stage of the company’s display. Designed to meet latest market needs including non-intrusive operation, precision proportional control, absolute encoder position sensing and remote programming, the AUMATIC has proved itself to be an ideal technology platform that has evolved to meet the demands of valve automation applications.
New languages
An extended range of language displays for the AUMATIC will be announced at ACHEMA. The company will reveal Spanish, French, Italian and Brazilian-Portuguese options which sit alongside its established English and German versions, The additional languages are also available for upgraded COM-AC AUMATIC programming software and a PDA version will be presented at the exhibition. Access from a programming device, PDA or laptop performed via a Bluetooth interface will be demonstrated and the company will provide news of a Bluetooth interface/PDA version of COM-AC set to be released during 2006.
Latest bus solutions
The company’s ongoing commitment to fieldbus developments will also be demonstrated with Profibus DP-V1 and new Foundation Fieldbus interface functionality. New generation solutions for device integration which enable actuator diagnosis and actuator parameter influence from the control room via bus technology will form part of AUMA’s display.
Mechanical enhancements
Mechanical actuator enhancements from AUMA will also be on show including a new anti-backdrive device addressing applications where there is a risk that high static loads at the valve obturator or heavy vibrations could inadvertently modify the valve position. The retaining torque of the anti-backdrive device, which is as large as the maximum tripping torque of the actuator, ensures that accidental modifications of this nature are avoided. And, as the anti-backdrive device is mounted between actuator and valve, brake motors are not required for many applications.
The anti-backdrive device is available in enclosure protection IP 67 and IP 68 and is approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. By the end of 2006, the anti-backdrive device with retaining torque range will be extended to include sizes from 60 Nm up to 1,000 Nm.

New programming software for actuators

AUMA actuators with integral controls AUMATIC AC may be programmed with a laptop which is connected via an interface cable to the actuator. The required software COM-AC is now available in the new version 2.1. System requirements are a Pentium PC with 32 MB main memory equipped with an RS 232 or USB interface for adapter and an operating system Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, or XP.
The following characteristics have been improved compared to the previous version:
- Multilingual user interface, the languages Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese have been added to German and English.

With effect from January 1, 2006, AUMA Riester GmbH & Co. KG, Muellheim/ Germany will take over the entire company of Haselhofer Feinmechanik GmbH located in Villingen-Schwenningen/ Germany. The Haselhofer company will be integrated into the AUMA group with all its employees as a legally independent corporation.
AUMA is a worldwide leading manufacturer of electric actuators for open-close or modulating operation of valves (gate valves, globe valves, butterfly valves etc.) in industrial processes and complements its product portfolio with small linear and part-turn actuators by means of this acquisition. The transfer of the company from Mrs. Haselhofer to AUMA is based on the continuation of the company at the current location. Mr. Mathias Haenle will become the managing director of the Haselhofer company. AUMA is considered the ideal partner for Haselhofer; due to its strong international position, it can help to extend Haselhofer’s sales activities abroad. The purchase price will not be disclosed.
AUMA Riester GmbH & Co. KG, Muellheim/ Germany, has a turnover of 120 m. EURO and employs approx. 1,300 employees worldwide, 780 of them in Germany. The AUMA product portfolio includes actuators, controls and gearboxes for the industrial sectors such as power plant technology, water and sewage treatment industry, petrochemical industry and pipeline industry, as well as products for general automation.
