Valve automation via fieldbus with redundancy across long distances Muellheim, 29 September 2006
Furthermore, to cover large distances, the system structure uses conventional copper fieldbus cables. In theory, 127 actuators can be installed at a distance of 1,200 m, respectively. This results in a loop circumference of 153.6 km. In addition, the actuators feature a repeater functionality enhancing the fieldbus signal in every actuator. The data transfer is realised on the basis of the open Modbus RTU protocol. The AUMA Master Station SIMA is designated as fieldbus master, which already contains the administration of the loop redundancy.
