AUMA part-turn gearboxes with AWWA approval

The entire AUMA worm gearboxes range GS 63.3 through GS 500 has been successfully tested in accordance with AWWA Standard C504-00. These gearboxes are designed for the automation of part-turn valves.
AUMA was able to benefit from more than 40 years of experience in design, manufacturing, and sales of the gearboxes. Thousands of AUMA worm gearboxes are in service worldwide in industrial facilities and applications – some of them subject to AWWA requirements while others are not.
The AWWA standard calls out specific design and operational criteria for worm gearboxes as they are applied to operate butterfly valves in potable water collection, processing and distribution systems. Criteria include material performance, lifetime, operator interface, and prototype testing.
AUMA is now capable of furnishing worm gearboxes with output torque up to 137,040 ft lbs (185,700 Nm) in accordance with AWWA Standard C504-00.
AUMA actuators with DeviceNet interface

DeviceNet is a simple but powerful fieldbus system which is especially promoted by process control system manufacturers in North America. With 2.5 million installed DeviceNet devices, it has gained a considerable share of the international market. From now on, AUMA multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators are available with DeviceNet interface. The required extensive certification tests of the AUMA products with DeviceNet by the ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendor Association) were successfully passed and first pilot plants were smoothly commissioned. |

AUMA actuators for extreme low temperatures

AUMA actuators are also used in extreme cold environments e.g. for the operation of pipeline valves in Siberia. The multi-turn actuators SA in version AUMA NORM have therefore been available for a longer period of time in extreme low temperature versions up to ambient temperatures of – 50 °C or – 60 °C. From now on, the actuators are also available with integral controls This is also valid for the explosion-proof version AMExC. The low temperature functionality is achieved by an integral heating system within the controls.

Fieldbus interfaces
Our devices equipped with Profibus DP and Modbus RTU interfaces, which have been available for a long time, were last year supplemented by a newly developed DeviceNet and a Foundation Fieldbus (FF-bus) interface.
AUMA follows the trends towards decentralisation in automation technology and provides solutions for the most diverse distributed control systems.
Remote parameterization and programming via Profibus DP-V1
The present interface enables acyclic services, i.e. data may be accessed which are not required for normal operation.
Thus, it is generally possible to optimise the programming of the device via the fieldbus from the DCS, without actually having to send staff to the devices.
The remote access is possible for AUMA actuators with Profibus-DP V1 interface according to EDD/PDM concept by Siemens, as well as according to the open, standardised FDT/DTM concept.
Actuators with Bluetooth interface
Instead of a cable-based connection to a laptop for programming the actuator or retrieving data, the communication between actuator and programming device (laptop or PDA) is wireless.
For commissioning or service purposes the actuator can be operated from the programming device.
ATEX actuators with Ex-plug socket connector
AUMA is the only actuator manufacturer who provides electrical connections with plug/ socket connector for explosion-proof equipment.
During maintenance work, not all connected wires have to be disconnected, the actuator remains wired.
Both available versions (with screw- or spring-type terminals) are double sealed, i.e. after opening the plug cover, the interior of the device still is in flameproof enclosure.
